Home Staging In The City

Updated: May 11, 2023

Welcome to Gold Dust Staging & Design's Blog Posts

Do you find it tough to talk about yourself? Well, I do! I said enough is enough, I'm breaking out of my shell this year & putting myself out here. Hang tight with me as I go on this journey. Where to begin?

My name is Dusty Stevens from Henderson NV. I founded Gold Dust Staging & Design August 15th, 2022, but it doesn't all begin there. My husband and I moved into our new home August of 2019; we began building our backyard and starting DIY improvement projects around the home. My husband is an architect, and I was a personal fitness trainer and taught Pilates. I began to sell on ecommerce for extra money and found out how I loved to thrift & find the deals to be able to resell.

That time was short lived due to 2020 everything shutting down. So once again I was looking for my thrill of finding items, then came the bulk trash days! Now finding other people's unwanted items for free was truly a treasure! I found loads of things to still make money from, refurbishing furniture for resale became a newfound hobby of mine. Soon the stores opened back up and I had truckloads of items to donate back to the charity shops that I had collected from my bulk trash days.

This got me thinking! How can I tap into this passion of mine and start a business my husband and I can do together when he gets ready to retire from architecture. I wanted him to still be able to utilize his skills and be a benefit to what I was trying to create. Home staging looked like my best option without taking years of schooling to become an interior designer. Staging real estate properties for sale seemed to hit home for me considering I've always had a passion for style & design and a desire to invest into real estate to get in on these short-term rental properties that I can stage and run myself.

My husband had no clue what I was getting us into, I assured him this was our way we could work best together. He has been very supportive along the way and at times he's still unsure how it's all going to happen. There's so much more to being a home stager pertaining to the business side of things and I'm learning every day. Starting this blog helps me to open up and not to be such an introvert and take you with me on this journey. I plan to blog about design, remodeling, refurbishing, DIY projects and behind the scenes of property staging.

I sincerely hope you enjoy following along with me and you get inspired to know you too can start your own business and follow your passion.
